Holy Cross Church’s Mission Statement
“Holy Cross Catholic Church in Linden is a Community gathered in the name of Jesus the Savior who revealed the love of God, our Father, especially through His Cross.” |
“Our Community is set apart to reveal this Crucified and Risen Jesus alive in our midst by faithfully living our call.” |
“United to Jesus and, in Him, to one another we are called to worship the Father in spirit and truth.” And particularly when gathered to celebrate with active, full and conscious participation the Sacraments of the Church, very especially the Eucharist.” |
“Empowered by the Spirit, we are sent to be Jesus’ witnesses in the world, to encounter and reveal Jesus more authentically by caring for our sisters and brothers in need, and our elderly, housebound and physically or spiritually sick members of the Body of Christ. |
We are sent to thus reveal to them, our Father’s love and concern for them. This is truly giving witness to Jesus, this too is worship of the Father in spirit and truth, a living out of the Eucharist. |
“We are called to look beyond our boundaries to our other sisters and brothers in the world. We are sent to promote God’s Kingdom of love and peace, by our sincere friendliness even towards those who do not share our Faith (that is, persons belonging to Protestant or other confessions or any religions persuasion) or those who do not share our vision of the world, or even those who may offend or hurt us personally or as a Christian Community that bears and proclaims the name of Jesus.” |

Explanation of Mission of Holy Cross Church |
Our forefathers built this our Parish church under the name of Holy Cross. What do we say of it? |
“Holy Cross Catholic Church in Linden is a Community gathered in the name of Jesus the Savior who revealed the love of God, our Father, especially through His Cross.” |
So what is OUR mission, of each of us, within this Church? |
“Our Community is set apart to reveal this Crucified and Risen Jesus alive in our midst by faithfully living our call.” (This applies to each one of us individually). |
Called not to live our Christianity by ourselves, isolated, but to be joined together as a community united with Jesus for life and action, what is our first responsibility? |
“United to Jesus and, in Him, to one another we are called to worship the Father in spirit and truth.” |
How can we as a Community carry out this worship of the Father? |
“We are called to encounter Our Savior and together with Him to worship our Father particularly when gathered to celebrate with active, full and conscious participation the Sacraments of the Church, very especially the Eucharist.” |
Does our Mission stop here within the Church walls and with our celebrations? |
“Empowered by the Spirit, we are sent to be Jesus’ witnesses in the world, to encounter and reveal Jesus more authentically by caring for our sisters and brothers in need, and our elderly, housebound and physically or spiritually sick members of the Body of Christ. We are sent to thus reveal to them, as Jesus living in us wants to do, our Father’s love and concern for them. This is truly giving witness to Jesus, this too is worship of the Father in spirit and truth, a living out of the Eucharist. |
Is our mission in the world limited to the geographical and confessional limits of our Parish community? |
“We are called to look beyond our boundaries to our other sisters and brothers in the world. we are sent to promote God’s Kingdom of love and peace, by our sincere friendliness even towards those who do not share our Faith (that is, persons belonging to Protestant or other confessions or any religions persuasion) or those who do not share our vision of the world, or even those who may offend or hurt us personally or as a Christian Community that bears and proclaims the name of Jesus.” |
